Snuggle Sling Instructions
Front Facing Snuggle
Tie the bottom straps (the 2 shorter straps) snuggly around your
waist with the body of the sling hanging down over you knees.
Pick your child up facing out (with their back against your chest).
Grab both top straps (the 2 longer straps) and pull the body
of the sling over your baby's body. Using the top straps you
can adjust the height of the baby on your body (the more snuggly
you pull the straps the higher the baby will sit).
Once you have
found the desired height cross the top straps on your
back (make sure the straps don't twist). Pull the tails of
the top straps
around your waist and tie the straps under your baby.
If your baby is very young you can tie the straps around
their back for
extra support. Some babies really like to stand while
in the sling while others find having their legs bent is
more comfortable.
Back Facing Snuggle
Tie the bottom straps (the 2 shorter straps) snuggly around
your waist with the body of the sling hanging down over your
knees. Pick your child up facing towards you (with their
chest against your chest). Grab both top straps (the 2 longer
straps) and pull the body of the sling over your baby's body.
Using the top straps you can adjust the height of the baby
on your body (the more snuggly you pull the straps the higher
the baby will sit).
Once you have found the desired height
cross the top straps on your back (make sure the
straps don't twist). Pull the tails of the top straps around
your waist
and tie the straps under your baby. If your baby
is very young you can tie the straps around their back for
extra
support.
*This is the best way to breast feed your baby
in the Snuggle Sling. Simply loosen the top straps allowing your
baby
to slide down your body slightly. This provides a very discrete
means
of feeding your baby while preventing reflux as your baby
remains in a upright position. When your child is finished
nursing
simply tighten the straps.
Hip Snuggle
Tie the bottom straps around your waist with the body of the
sling on one hip. Pick up your child and hold them on the
same hip the sling body is on. Pull the front top strap across
your chest and lay it over the opposite shoulder. Grasp the
back top strap and pull across your back. Pull the back front
strap to meet the front top strap and tie off either under
your baby's bottom or behind their back.
*This carry is best suited for older children and should not
be used until your child is developed enough to both sit up
and straddle your hip comfortably.
Back Snuggle
Tie the bottom straps around your waist with the body of the
sling hanging down over the back of your legs. Now you want
to get your child in a piggy-back position, an older child
can just climb on, a younger child you can scoot from a hip
carry position. Bend over and keep one had on your baby.
With your other hand pull the body of the sling between your
child's legs over his back and pull the straps over each
shoulder. Hold onto the straps snuggly and stand up. Now
you can either cross the straps across your chest and tie
under that baby's bottom or bring the straps under your armpits
(like a back pack) and tie under the baby's bottom, whichever
way is more comfortable for you.
There are several variations on this carry that include. High
back snuggle where you tie the bottom straps just above or
just below your breast allowing your child to sit higher on
your back.
*There are several ways to carry your little one on your back.
Please take extra precautions when putting your baby on your
back. The first few times it is essential to use a spotter
or in the very least do this over a couch or a bed.
High Back Snuggle (with an infant)
Lay the Snuggle Sling on a bed or a couch. Lay your infant
on the body of the sling and while bending down tie the bottom
straps just below your breast (some people are more comfortable
with the straps tied about their breasts). It is important
to make sure the bottom straps are tied snuggly around your
body. Grab the two upper straps (2 long straps) and gently
pull the baby onto your back. Adjust your baby's height by
pulling more or less snuggly on the upper straps. Bring the
upper straps under your underarms and cross the straps below
your baby's bottom. Bring the straps back around your body
and tie around your waist.
Tips for using your Snuggle Sling with a newborn
— When using a Snuggle Sling with a newborn it is crucial to
fold the bottom of the sling body so your baby doesn't
slide down. Simply fold the bottom of the sling body towards the
inside of the sling and tie as usual (this will in effect
shorten the body of the sling)
—When in the back facing snuggle your baby's head may need some
more support. Make sure the curved portion of the sling
is flipped up (to support your baby's head) and fold up a receiving
blanket or other cloth and place behind your baby's head.
This will create a sort of pillow and keep your baby's head from
bouncing about.
